I would say this quotes is saying that what we portrait is important for first impression, but it also reminds us that not all ppl that looks decent, are decent . I guess that is something that most of us overlook in understanding this saying, at least I am. Sometimes, u thought u know someone well enough, believe and trust ur own judgement based on ur close relationship, which might turn out to be completely shocking!!! Just like this piece of quotes from grey’s anatomy:
